During a standoff with Canton SWAT team and U.S. marshals, a fugitive wanted out of West Virginia shot a police officer before authorities fatally shot him at a hotel.

A 43-year-old father was shot and killed in his home by a Las Vegas police office last week, authorities said.

Brandon Durham, 43, called police for help when an intruder broke into his home last week. An officer kicked the door in and shot him, killing him.

The Municipal Police Training Committee in Massachusetts is investigating dozens of police officers for bypassing mandatory training requirements, WBZ-TV has learned.

Evidence of police officers using technology to fast forward through their mandatory in-service training and completing sessions within minutes rather than hours has prompted a suspension of online courses offered by state officials.

Massachusetts officials have notified police chiefs that some officers have been getting around parts of their online training. In a letter last week, Municipal Police Training Committee Executive Director Jeff Fanrsworth said officials had learned that some police officers have been “bypassing their TY25 online training by using technologies that override controls meant to prevent fast-forwarding through the training.
