A powerful storm closing in on Southern California has prompted evacuation warnings for residents living near the burn scar of the Line Fire in San Bernardino County.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for burn scar areas in the Los Angeles area ahead of what's likely to be the biggest storm of the season.

Voluntary evacuation warnings will take effect Thursday morning for several areas in the Airport Fire burn scar in Orange County, officials said.

Los Angeles County officials warn residents in burn scar areas that the expected heavy rainfall may cause dangerous conditions and evacuation warnings may be issued if debris flows develop.

A high risk of “significant flooding, debris flows, or landslides” has been identified for the properties under an evacuation order. The entire Lake Fire burn scar remains at risk “for flooding and becoming isolated” during what is expected to be Santa Barbara’s heaviest rainfall of the season so far.

Rain bringing possible flooding and risks of debris flows near the burn scar of last year's Airport Fire​ led to Orange County officials announcing Wednesday that evacuation warnings for those areas will be issued Thursday morning.
