Stockton City Manager Harry Black has resigned from his position, with Deputy City Manager Will Crew stepping in as acting City Manager until a new appointment is made.

Black had entered a new employment agreement with the city in August of 2024, approved in a 6-1 vote by the council. It included a term of four years.

The City of Stockton announced the resignation of City Manager Harry Black Thursday evening. “I am honored and pleased to have served the City of Stockton and its residents for the past five years,” Black said in announcing his resignation.

Almost two years after a shooting at a Stockton park killed a 17-year-old high school student, police said they have arrested a suspect.

A man has been arrested in connection with the 2023 shooting death of a teenager at a park in Stockton. On April 12, 2023, officers responded to a report of a shooting at Unity Park where they found one teenage victim who had been shot and another who had been pistol-whipped.

An 86-year-old man died in Stockton after a suspected DUI crash involving a 29-year-old driver. The incident occurred on Interstate 5 and resulted in the elderly man's vehicle overturning. The other driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
