Jan 29, 2010 · Keep in mind that GTP and Carpet pythons are both of the Genus Morelia, and virtually share the same geographic range. Some subspecies of carpets are much more arboreal than keepers give the allowance for, so it's not a stretch to imagine "carpondros" in the wild.

Dec 29, 2005 · Sadly no. They are not sterile. In fact, most snake hybrids (take the blood python crossed with ball python) have produced fertile offspring. Granted, getting those offspring is quite difficult, but they are fertile. In fact, the blood ball crosses have been bred to each other and have produced "super balls".

Jul 17, 2020 · All carpet pythons can interbreed with each other. Diamond/jungle crosses used to be quite common. They can also hybridize with some other species as well (green tree pythons, for example).

Feb 23, 2012 · Hybridizing very similar species makes for more confusion than hybridizing drastically different species, and tends to make for the most spectacular successes when they occur. Good luck, don't count on succeeding even on your fourth season attempting this cross.

Feb 8, 2007 · I have recently (2 months ago) got back into snake keeping and my first choice would be a Green Tree Python as I much prefer the arboreal snakes and what better that a GTP. As you probably know though they do require a higher degree of care and expertise than say a Royal or Carpet Python.
