A giant sand dune rises into the trees of Kincaid Park near the southwest corner of the Anchorage Bowl, with expansive views of Cook Inlet, the Kenai Peninsula and the Chugach Mountains.

If you park at the Jodphur parking area (off of Kincaid drive and the far west end of Dimond Avenue), you will come to the "famous" sand dunes and motocross area. Climb up the sand dunes and head toward the edge of the bluff, and you'll find a wonderful narrow trail. It goes up and down along the ridge all the way to the beach.

Kincaid Park is situated among 1,400 acres of rolling, forested hills and beautiful scenery. Visitors are treated to spectacular views of Mt. Susitna across Cook Inlet; Fire Island; Denali and Mt. Foraker to the north; and (we think) the best sunsets in Anchorage!

You can bound down the region’s largest active sand dune or follow a goat-trail path along spectacular 300-foot bluff. You can explore the woods in search of wildlife: Moose proliferate, black bear abound, and bald eagles cry.
