Students must audition to be accepted into the Theater BFA, Dance BA, or Dance BFA programs. Auditions are not required for the Theater BA program. Theater BFA auditions are usually scheduled in May and September .

Since its inception in 1976, first as Repertory West Dance Company and later as Santa Barbara Dance Theater, the company has presented locally and in international tours.

UCSB's Division of Dance offers two degrees, the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and the Bachelor of Arts (BA). Both programs are studio centered and emphasize performance and choreography. Both require daily classes in modern dance and ballet.

Audiences will want to take advantage of the opportunity to see the works of the UCSB dance faculty performed by UCSB dance majors. The Faculty Dance Concert will run from November 22nd through November 24th, 2024, on campus, at UCSB's Hatlen Theater.
