Jul 4, 2011 · Of the 5 old tractors I have my B10 is wired back wards at the amp meter. I know it but its funny to see the guys that use/check out my running collection have to say I have a problem with my charging system. Its not that difficult to fix but I have not taken the time to correct it.

Feb 5, 2011 · Am amp meter measures the flow of electricity. The higher the flow the more the needle moves reflecting the flow and in what direction it moves. An amp meter only measures this flow, it will not reflect the condition or function of any component. A volt meter shows you the actual circuit voltage. Again just a dumb meter.

Jun 10, 2003 · It might also be a bad Amp meter, I have seen this on early models (without inline fuses) if the amp meter gets to high of currents by accident. I know the proper way to set these regulators up and can do it in about 5 minutes. Here are a few tips and notes if you want to try. Set up an inline shunt and amp meter and a separate voltage meter.

Jun 12, 2010 · The ammeter is off a Simplicity 17 GTH-L and shows 30 amps +/-, I assume that means it's capacity is 30 amps. Of course the starter won't go through it. The generator is rated 15 amps and the accessories (minus starter)have the original circuit breaker replaced by a 30 amp inline fuse, so that's fine.

Mar 2, 2007 · When the amp meter is to the negative side you are drawing current from the battery. If this happens under load to the battery and the amp meter does NOT bounce to the positive side, then you either have a faulty regulator or a faulty pole on the charging side of the S/G. It's not common for these Amp Meters to go bad.

Aug 8, 2012 · There are 2 red wires that come out of the back of the amp meter. One comes from the ignition I believe, into the amp meter and the other goes to a little brass box (roughly 1/2"x3/4"x 1-1/4") w/ 2 terminals coming out of it.

May 31, 2019 · In the old amp meter, the current went through the meter. With a volt meter it does not. So on the "+" side of the volt meter you need to connect BOTH wires that went to the amp meter (so the current flows to/from the battery. The negative terminal of the volt meter is connected to ground.

Apr 29, 2020 · (Lights are powered by the other straight AC circuit). I installed an electric lift on the tractor; no issues keeping the battery charged for mowing (the electric lift draws over 10 amps based on the amp meter when operating). But using a Johnny Bucket is a different story.

May 8, 2013 · One, the solenoid was bad and two, there were two wires that were not connected but labeled as amp meter. The starter switch also fails to turn off the motor when removed. I changed the solenoid and tied the two amp meter wires together and ran a separate switch wire to ground and now have a running tractor that does not charge but runs quite well.
