The EMD F3 is a 1,500-horsepower (1,100 kW) B-B freight- and passenger-hauling carbody diesel locomotive produced between July 1945 and February 1949 by General Motors’ Electro-Motive Division. Final assembly was at GM-EMD's La Grange, Illinois plant.

Jan 8, 2025 · The CNJ 'Green' F-3s (10-A's + 5 B's) were road freight locomotives. With this said, they may have pulled passenger cars as anything can happen on the railroad, but I have never seen a photo or heard a documented fact that they ever did during their service as CNJ locomotives. MTH did green w/yellow stripes. Williams did green w/yellow stripes

While not originally from the CNJ, the ARHS and Tri State Chapter NRHS has done a good job at restoring these two F3As back to the CNJ tangerine and blue paint scheme. The Antracite Railway Historical Society and the Tri State Railway Historical Society have restored these two ex-BAR F-units to CNJ tangerine and blue livery.
