Aug 21, 2021 · I have a cva mountain rifle that says it is .58 caliber. The barrel is about 1" across the flats and as I remember the twist was slower than 1:48 for sure since I bought it as a round ball shooter. My question is are the factory .565 roundball if patched work in a .58 caliber?

Jan 20, 2021 · My CVA Mountain likes the .562 ball and especially when I use wheel weight lead to cast balls. Also have the .570 but the gun seems to like them less. Is that the one that was in the classifieds recently? Will a .575 ball mold do? Works for me in my Cabela Hawkin.

Jun 4, 2022 · Sounds like a nice rifle, the only modern, shootable, 58 I have is a Zoli Zouve which I really like. 1:66 twist in the Zouve and I shoot Minie so only light 450g to 500g with up to 80g of powder. For PRB I have used up to 180g of 2F, fairly exciting, but no gain over the 150g load.

Jan 20, 2021 · In the early 1980s I had a kitset CVA Mountain Rifle .58 that we put together. I shot very well G&O 2f 120 grains .562 RB and a canvas patch. Shot a few Red and Fallow deer with it. certainly did the job extremely well.

Overall condition is very good with no cracks or wood loss. Barrel is 32" and one inch across the flats. Action is excellent with a crisp and quick trigger. Bore has discoloration at muzzle, rifling is strong - should make a good shooter. Good investment as price may double due to probable upcoming unconstitutional gun bans.
