City Wildlife protects and advocates for wildlife and wildlife habitat through rehabilitation for release, public education, and community engagement. City Wildlife was created to address the need for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in Washington, DC.

Rivers, Washington, DC is home to a diverse population of animal and plant life. 240 species of birds, 29 mammals, 21 reptiles, 19 amphibians, and 78 species of fish can be found in the DC Metro Area. Many of these animals, such as Eastern Gray Squirrels, Blue Jays, and Robins, live here year round.

Every day, all year long, City Wildlife provides life-saving veterinary and rehabilitative care to orphaned and injured wildlife in Washington, D.C. These animals rely on City Wildlife ... and on donations from people like you, who care!

City Wildlife is the only wildlife rehabilitation organization in DC, welcoming between 1,500 and 2,000 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals through its doors each year. Many are delivered by DC Animal Care and Control, but over half — birds, turtles, rabbits, possums — are brought in by the kind people who find them and want to help.

City Wildlife was created to address the need for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in Washington, DC. Over the past several decades, urban development has reduced local wildlife habitat, and wild animals have had to adapt to living in close proximity with people.
