Mar 8, 2025 · Considering the #175 is the newest of the remaining R-1 class locomotives and was built in 1908, I think it is remarkable that two of them have what is probably original tenders. Nice pics of the Quincy Smelter complex.

> Could be Hull Ave. in Des Moines (ex-CNW, exx-FtDDM&S). I believe the photo was taken near the north end of Hull Ave yard in Des Moines, the view is looking east. If that's true, the power would have been sitting on the short section of E-W trackage where the Ankeny Sub. main track swung over from the x-FDDM&S alignment to the CNW.
