The RF output across all bands is synthesized from a 3.2-10 GHz YTO. Since this only occurs sub-3.2 GHz, that RF path is directly traceable to the A6 Frac-N. Replacing the original A6 Frac-N with another from a different PSG cures this problem.

Use the E8257D/67D PSG Service Guide to troubleshoot any failures detected by the test. Some circuits may require up to 50 minutes to warm up before passing the self-test. If self-tests continue to fail after 50 minutes of warm up, troubleshoot the instrument. Check to see if the ERR annunciator is on.

If the YTO unlock goes away dependent on sweep spans or time then check for DAC failures on A19 and/or A16 brds. There are DACs on A19 for YTO pretune, and on A16 for sweep spans and sweep times. Injecting a signal at 2GHz and 5.8GHz will show what appears to be an FMd signal at the bad freq. point.
