Vue is a software tool for world generation by Bentley Systems with support for many visual effects, animations and various other features. The tool has been used in several feature-length movies. In 2024, Bentley Systems announced that Vue would be discontinued, and be freely available to those that still wish to use it. [1]

May 8, 2024 · The downloads include both Vue 2023 and PlantFactory 2023, the current stable releases of the software, and work-in-progress builds of Vue 2024 and PlantFactory 2024, which were evidently quite far into development when Bentley decided to discontinue the products.

May 10, 2024 · Vue 2024 adds new options for creating and rendering clouds, including a new SmartClouds material library, and the option to use Blender’s Cycles renderer directly inside Vue. PlantFactory 2024 features improvements to UV editing workflow, the viewport display, and to the integration plugins for DCC software, particularly Unreal Engine.

Both applications get a new connector for Omniverse, Nvidia’s virtual collaboration platform, initial support for Redshift and RenderMan materials, and a clearcoat channel in PBR materials.
