Mar 14, 2013 · Overall first gear*final drive is 13.38 vs. 12.60 of the fiero getrag. This is 6% shorter. If you shift at 6000 rpm, the F40 will peak at 32.79 mph whereas the getrag will get you to 34.74 mph (again 24.6" tire). I am a fan of the F40 and going through the effort to install a couple of them in my personal cars.

Jan 11, 2012 · Essentially taking 2 tripods, and using the F40 compatible spline part with fiero and corsica style tripod cages and welding them together. The driver side will be using a 96 Corsica axle (Passenger side, 4speed auto). It has fiero compatible outer CV, the shortest GM axle shaft, and the same axle shaft splines as the maual fiero.

Jan 28, 2015 · The F40 is larger in girth than the 282, but because of its dual layshaft design, is actually SHORTER from the bellhousing face to the extremis of the case. Also, the F40 requires a deeper flywheel than the 282... the simplest way to have a flywheel would be to start with the Camaro 3800 flywheel and plug/redrill it for the Northstar pattern.

Project car for my son and me. Having a great time so far with more "minor" projects. The current getrag has what appears to be the typical 3rd gear grind problem. Tried new syncromesh, some improvement but doesn't fix it

Feb 8, 2025 · All this means you need a flywheel thicker than stock fiero. Transmission has a 1" 23 spline, which is also different from stock Fiero transmissions. Custom Axles (Passenger Side, Intermediate shaft, drivers axle) - 27 splines @ differential and the F40 shifts the differential 1" to the driver side, so Fiero axles won't work.
