One is the lack of source material on which to base events. The second is that all of this is Roman and therefore very heavily biased. Furthermore, what evidence there is has been included in my book on Aetius, Gaiseric’s main opponent, so a separate book would probably not be worthwhile. Sep 25, 2021 · I would also question whether the dating to the Alans 'or other barbarian peoples'. The question of why such hoards are hidden remains a mystery. If it is due to barbarian activity, it could as easily have been to the later attack of the Vandals during the reigns of Gunderic or Gaiseric. By the way, I completely disagree with the map.
