The LAV-25 (Light Armored Vehicle) is a member of the LAV II family. [4] It is an eight-wheeled amphibious armored reconnaissance vehicle built by General Dynamics Land Systems and used by the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.

Top speed was 100 kph as specficied on road, 60 kph on average off-road (62.2 mph). It had a 14.9 in ground clearance. Tires were Michelin XL 11x16in, mounted on tubeless steel beted radials. The suspensions comprised four torsion bars (behind each train) and eight schock absorbers. The steering controlled the four front wheels.

LAV fitted with opening doors on the top, inside it is fitted with an 81mm M252 mortar, with 360° traverse, and a pintle mounted M240E1 machine gun. It carries 99 81mm mortar shells, and 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.

The LAV-25 is a light armored vehicle that is air transportable in current U.S. Air Force cargo transports. The C-5A can carry eight, the C-141 two, and the C-130 carries one. The U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E helicopter can transport one LAV-25 in the sling position.
