Dec 7, 2024 · On the matter of CQB, if there is a LEO here, and uses a 308 caliber for his Swat team mission, then perhaps a case can be made for Socom 16 or the CQB M1A. I bought a Socom 16 as its a handy carbine and at that moment in time, the Scout M1A wasn't made yet.

Mar 24, 2018 · Sent it back and when it was returned chamber still looked like crap although it still ejected. Accuracy was horrible 5' 5shot 100 yard groups using FGMM, While the other M1A's ranged from slightly over 1" with the Devine TX NM to around 1.5" with all the other M14/M1A's. promptly traded the SOCOM in.

Aug 26, 2018 · No rhyme or reason. The SEI SOCOM gaslock sight base and the standard height M14 front sight with GI rear aperture works for most, but not all. SEI gas lock front sight base is taller than the SOCOM, so shorter than XS front sight is generally needed. ie..SEI base w/ standard 14 sight. The different SOCOM XS sights show there is some variance.

Dec 20, 2004 · A review that I read on the short SOCOM rifle indicated only moderate accuracy, 3-4 inches at 100 yards. With the 16 inch barrel the 150 grain bullet is producing 2300 FPS

Nov 15, 2009 · A regular M1A would NOT work in a CQB condition, someone brought up the possibility of using a SOCOM and I can see areas where that would work, but the SOCOM would limit your effective range to about 400-500 meters. Again, I have NOT used socom in field conditions, but I am doing math in my head and 400-500 meters is my best guess.

Aug 20, 2018 · This is the target the US Army used to use to sight in the M14 rifle (the M1A is the civilian legal semi auto version of the M14 - not all M14's were set up to fire full auto anyway, usually on two per squad had the switch on the receiver to select full or semi auto fire, the rest had a cap over the post and now way to shoot full auto).
