The M6C/SOCOM, also known as the "M6S" and informally known as the "Automag", is a semi-automatic pistol used by the United Nations Space Command. It is a specialized variant of the M6C magnum sidearm used by special operations teams.

The M6C/SOCOM was designed as a very powerful scoped pistol in tribute to the fan-beloved M6D from Halo: Combat Evolved. The M6C/SOCOM combines the fire rate of the M6C with the accuracy, range, and scope of the M6D.

It can use shorter suppressors but the knights armament mk23 used by socom is ~7.5" by itself. The gun is 9.65" so it's quite long when assembled. The M6S is undoubtedly very heavy and bulky, the M6C it's based on already boarders on impractical.

The M6C/SOCOM, being a sound suppressed variant of the M6C, features several key advantages. The first is an increase in accuracy by the addition of a muzzle brake which reduces the recoil of the gun - this allows for better aiming and more controlled fire.

The back half of the receiver slides back and springs forward just as it does in game. The hooks there can easily support a tensional spring or a small rubber band. The tolerances on the inside of this piece are also slightly larger to allow it to actually slide along the grooves.

Jan 14, 2021 · The M6C/SOCOM is a special forces variant employed by ONI. It is not a standard issue sidearm, but instead is designed for special operations units and ODSTs. Each sidearm has its own specific role in the military, and I imagine that the only reason we only see one per game is to prevent overlap of weapons.

The M6C/SOCOM combines the fire rate of the M6C with the accuracy, range, and scope of the M6D. However, it does not have the stopping power of an M6D or M6G (due to the reduction in bullet velocity due to the silencer), so it's best used to use headshots against unshielded enemies.
