It serves the Counties of Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania, and the Cities of Danville and Martinsville. The Board consists of twelve members serving three-year terms; two are appointed by City Council.

Applications are open to rising high school sophomores, rising juniors, and rising seniors who reside in the City of Martinsville, VA. Prospective members must submit an application to the Youth Advisory Committee, which will be reviewed by current General Body Members and a panel of Staff Interviewers from the City of Martinsville.
