Oct 8, 2024 · Max Berek (* Aug. 16th 1886 in Racibórz; † Oct. 15th 1949 in Freiburg im Breisgau, buried in Wetzlar) was a mineralogist, physicist, mechanician and mathematician who worked as chief developer of Leitz 's special microscopes when Oskar Barnack developed the Leica. After having served in WWII he came back to Leitz.
