To introduce students to the significance of whatu and tāniko in Te Ao Māori and the student’s role as kaitiaki in Te Whare Pora.

The aim of this course is to be introduced to Māori Models of Practice (service delivery) and to begin to develop their own models of practice for application to whānau, hapū, and iwi.

Students will develop an awareness of the perspectives and practices relating to the survival of te reo Māori and early childhood education over the years, inclusive of today.

Students will refine their understanding of the origins of piupiu, the intensive construction techniques and evolution in upholding the mana of Ngā Mahi a Rēhia.
