"Black Leg" Sanji is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is the fifth member of the crew and the fourth to join, doing so at the end of the Baratie Arc .

Two years after he left the Vinsmoke Family, a ten year-old Sanji was working as a ship's cook on the Orbit. One day, "Red Leg" Zeff, a pirate, and his crew, attacked the ship. However, both ships were caught in a sudden storm and sank. Zeff managed to save the young Sanji from drowning.

Sanji, part of the Monster Trio, has significant strength, often overlooked by the World Government. His abilities include Diable Jambe, Ifrit Jambe, and Haki, specifically Kenbunshoku Haki and Busoshoku Haki. He's skilled in swordsmanship, tactical wit, and has a Raid Suit. Sanji also excels in stealth and facial reconstruction.

Sanji was unfazed by the undead denizens of Thriller Bark and did not hesitate to fight a Warlord in midair when his crew was threatened and even fired at an Emperor's ship despite all the risks involved. Sanji, while very brave, is not completely without fear.

Vinsmoke Reiju, a princess of the Germa Kingdom and commander of Germa 66, is the elder sister of Sanji in One Piece. She has a unique bond with Sanji, often caring for him in secret during their childhood when he was bullied by their brothers.
