Jan 25, 2021 · Does anyone realize that the PRR E7 7002 was the fastest steam locomotive ever recorded. Delays east of Mansfield caused it to depart Crestline 25 minutes late. No. 7002 was claimed to have achieved 127.1 miles per hour (204.5 km/h) near Elida and was recorded by 2 observers watching with a radar speed gun.

Feb 14, 2023 · It’s a similar case for the S1 and Big Boy. The S1 is long and lean, with one of the longest tenders in the world. But the engine without the tender isn’t that long on its own, and its boiler is quite slender. Meanwhile, the Big Boy has both greater weight and volume. It’s even longer without the tenders.
