Dec 22, 2024 · I had this issue with associating .psd files with Photoshop on a re-install of Photoshop CS6 2012 on a new PC with Windows 11. My file thumbnails were blank white. I tried associating it with Photoshop and it would NOT link. I have seen this issue asked about & discussed on many sites and NO ONE has had an answer to cure it. I FIGURED IT OUT!

Not sure why this is, but I just get a thumbnail icon that says PSD rather than seeing a preview of the file. Also the message that "File type cannot be displayed" when trying to view with Photo Viewer. Please help! I have Windows 7 professional.
