Nov 15, 2017 · By the beginning of 1943, the PaK 40 had become the core of the Wehrmacht anti-tank arm. It saw service on all fronts that Germany was fighting, from North Africa and Italy, from France to the Eastern Front. Finland received 210 PaK 40’s in 1943-1944.

Dec 16, 2015 · With an effective range of 1,800 meters, the PaK 40 could fire a 75mm armour-piercing round at 792 meters per second, enabling it to penetrate up to 132mm of steel.

By 1943 it had become the principle antitank gun in service with the German army and most of its allies. With an effective range of 1,000-1,500 yards, the PaK-40 could fire a 15-lb armour-piercing round at 2,598 feet per second, enabling it to penetrate up to 106 mm of steel at 500 yards.

It must not be confused with the 7.5-cm Pak 97/38 which is a German modification of the well-known French 75 (see Tactical and Technical Trends, No. 22, p. 6). The 7.5-cm Pak 40 is very similar in appearance to the standard German 50-mm antitank gun, the 5-cm Pak 38. However, the following structural differences may be readily noted:
