Sep 6, 2014 · Ruger #1 and #3 threads are the same as Ruger 77R and Mark II and Hawkeye. They are not the same barrel shank LENGTH however. The single shot barrel shanks are longer, enough to have barrel face metal to mill the extractor relief into. I found a Ruger #3 take off barrel in .45/70 with the open sights still on it.

Jul 29, 2010 · I have shot a 270 custom gun with a wilson barrel. They would not use the barrel on a custom gun if they thought that it was a bad barrel. Think most guys think the qc was poor at wilson, but I am sure that ruger decided whether to use the barrel and not wilson. Final quality check had to be ruger.

Nov 28, 2009 · Ruger junky, I ordered the front sight from Ruger, I forget which model, whether it was for a K1A or an M77 MKII, but I remember that I had to open it up a bit for it to fit on the barrel of my rifle. I installed it with a bit of epoxy and the set screw. It looks factory to me. I love the looks of a Ruger front sight ramp.

Jun 14, 2011 · "Round Top" is a term applied to the very first M77 rifles.... they did not have the proprietary Ruger scope ring cutouts in the raised portion of the receiver. The top of the receiver was, as you might guess, round and smooth, drilled & tapped to use the same scope bases as either the Remington 700 or the Savage 110 (can't remember which).
