Jul 7, 2016 · does running ssd on sata 2 worth it? Also is running a slower ssd on sata 2 compared to a faster ssd on sata 2, is there a difference? For example samsung 850 evo vs kingston ssd where samsung is supposedly much more faster than kingston. Also is there a noticeable difference when used as a boot drive with other files. I got my PC from HP.

Question is, can I somehow “clone” my old SSD files and booting configuration over to my new m.2 ssd, so that I don’t have to download windows again / download all my files that were placed on my C: drive?

[SOLVED] Setting SATA SSD as boot drive with M.2 SSD as secondary
Jan 30, 2018 · Then I have most of my steam library installed on my WD Black SN 750 M.2 SSD. When I start the PC with all drives connected, the BIOS only recognizes the M.2 SSD (which does not have any O.S.). But when I unplug the M.2 SSD then restart, the BIOS recognized my SATA SSD which has my O.S. and then I can boot up into Windows 10 fine.

If you're using a mechanical HDD now, an SSD will be a giant leap forward, regardless of whether you're using SATA 2 or SATA 3. Your motherboard just happens to support sata express over U.2 connector, perhaps it supports NVMe too, but you can't convert once to sata express and then back to U.2 since now it'll be stuck in sata express while your SSD needs [strike]NVMe[/strike] full 4x pcie
