May 3, 2024 · The Stratford Greenway is a wildlife-friendly five-mile walking and cycling route that follows the course of an old single-track railway line – the Honeybourne Line – connecting Stratford-upon-Avon with Long Marston.

The overall vision for the Housatonic River Greenway is to designate a “greenway” from Stratford Point in the south end to Roosevelt Forrest in the north end, with a connections to Long Beach (south end) and the Merritt Parkway (north end).

The Stratford Greenway follows the course of an old railway. This trail for walkers and cyclists links the attractive town of Stratford-upon-Avon with the village of Long Marston. As you travel the route you can spot wild plants such as walnut trees, cowslips, knapweed, wild carrot and tansy.

BSC is developing a unifying theme along the route to provide a setting that promotes bicycle and pedestrian traffic while providing opportunities for passive and active recreation for Town residents.

The Stratford Greenway is now open and accessible from start to finish following the early completion of resurfacing works. Milcote Café and Bobby’s Café are open as usual.

The Stratford Greenway is a straight and flat stretch of dismantled railway, running from Stratford-upon-Avon to Long Marston. It is currently under threat from a proposal to reopen the old rail line between Stratford and Honeybourne – the Honeybourne Line.
