Oct 22, 2010 · i have a yamaha m-4 poweramp.. it has never been recaped. i think it sounds good but it doesent blow me away.. i hope that changes someday when i get the money to have it recaped. from what i have seen on here. the majority of people are saying your preamp makes more of a difference than the poweramp..

Feb 16, 2023 · I recapped a Yamaha C4 about a year ago and have been using it since without issues. The one thing I never tested at the time though was the phono stage. I connected up a turntable the other day only to be able barely hear it on either of the MM phono inputs (1 or 2). I can hear it quitely with the volume cranked up, but barely.

Dec 19, 2023 · Gone through replacing all caps along with variable resistors on this C-4. Plugged into DBT and the good news is I've got a dim glow. The bad, some smoke came up from the function board near VR123 trimmer resistor. Looks like these 2 resistors are toast (see photo). I think both R257 ( 1.2KΩ )...

May 21, 2009 · Yamaha's marketing (I have a C4 brochure) made the preamp sound like a "budget" product, if separates could ever be considered budget. In the same time frame (2RC) the C2a was available and WAY more expensive. In a sense, comparing the two might seem a little odd to the Yamaha engineers who designed them.
