Feb 16, 2025 · Ross is right, dead bait on bottom. What I"ve found is going pretty deep is the way to go at least in Crystal. My biggest burbot came from there, 11.55# but that was 2004, largest burbot in Michigan for master angler that year, yeah I'm bragging.

Feb 21, 2005 · Burbot SHOULD be post-spawn and still active to fish with a heavy ice jig and small treble with cut bait chunks. Night fishing wil be best, although the amount of snow on the ice may keep light penetration down on both water bodies during daylight.

Dec 30, 2008 · It is a very shallow lake. Fletchers has a habitat for pike, perch, panfish and bass. Burbot require cold, deep water. The fish in question is probably a bowfin. Bowfin and burbot look similar except bowfin has larger scales and burbot have a long anal and dorsal fin and small,embedded scales and coated with a heavy slime.

Nov 24, 2020 · Drop the fish chunks in when it gets to a "boil" and let them go about 10-12 minutes. have some drawn butter to dip them in. Tried this with burbot for my first time last year. As good as it was, my favorite is Fry Magic and corn meal at about a 50/50 mix.
