Attila or Gaiseric - Historia in Universum - UNRV Ancient Roman …
Apr 18, 2007 · What if he didn't enforce the Nicaea decision on holy ghost/spirit, aside from any resulting combat? Altho he didn't influence the decision, he wanted to stifle untidy disagreements. It strikes me as a committee type compromise - would history be much different if alternatives naturally rose to d...

Vandals in Africa - Academia - UNRV Ancient Roman Empire Forums
Jul 12, 2022 · In 429 some 80,000 Vandals crossed the Strait of Gibraltar and settled in North Africa. What puzzles me is that this number isn't challenged at all, althought some historians say 50,000.

One is the lack of source material on which to base events. The second is that all of this is Roman and therefore very heavily biased. War Elephants could be defeated but still they were (especially if armoured) fearsome war machines, real ancient tanks which could charge and smash enemy infantry and w...
Roman gold hoard hidden from Alans found in Spain
Sep 25, 2021 · I would also question whether the dating to the Alans 'or other barbarian peoples'. The question of why such hoards are hidden remains a mystery. If it is due to barbarian activity, it could as easily have been to the later attack of the Vandals during the reigns of Gunderic or Gaiseric. By the way, I completely disagree with the map.
Roman Navy | Roman Naval Warfare - UNRV
The Vandals' powerful navy would aid the ushering in of the western empire's fall when their pirate king Gaiseric not only eliminated Roman shipping on the Mediterranean, but also invaded Rome itself. By the mid-5th century AD, the Vandals were the masters of the sea, and by 476 AD, Rome had fallen completely from power in Western Europe.
How to find Latin inscriptions without out physical access to CIL
Dec 26, 2009 · This is a very interesting thread! The only information I had before was that the "Ligurian" language was non-indo-european. It is true that many people tend to get confused with the Celts.. There are so many theories being discussed on the subject, I think the analysis of genetic data might be ve...
